We’ve been taking a break to get things ready for a BIG announcement!! Make sure you are following us on Instagram to be one of the first to find out! (You’re REALLY not going to want to miss this!!)
I went live again!! (There’s no stopping me now!!)
I just googled “how many views is considered viral” and well let’s just say… we’re not there yet. Did you know that you have to get FIVE MILLION views in 3-4 days to be viral?
But do you know how many views it takes to make a difference?
So in case you missed yesterday’s video, go over here and take a look at it. It’s important that you understand where all this is coming from. In short… women are super excited about these pinup sessions we’re doing, but they’re holding back because they think that they should put themselves last in the line of importance in your family.
When I posted the images from my session, I got all these responses from women who were excited about scheduling a session! They love the idea of being pampered and dolled up and dressed up and feeling special. But…they want to wait until they have everyone else’s gifts taken care of first.
Going live was an inspired thing. Seriously, I woke at 4AM because the universe said to me… Go tell them this story.
See before we started any of this I did two things.
First… I declared that this coming year is going to be about prosperity for us. Every year I claim a word and it always works to keep me focused through the year. Two years ago my word was Momentum. Just keep swimming. Last year my word was Realized Potential. Okay… I know that is technically two words but whatever. Just stay with me. This year… Prosperity. Not just financial…but hey I’m not going to turn that down…but in all things be prosperous. I’m talking Proverbs 8:18 here.
The second thing I did was to pray that everyone involved in this project would be blessed. I want to be able to help women feel beautiful and loved and for them to know that they are worthy. I prayed over the list of women who sent those first 25 inquiries…and especially for the 22 who put themselves last.
And then last night while I was finishing up an ordering session with one of the 19 remaining women… yep you heard me right because my message got through to some folks yesterday… while I was finishing up with one of them I decided to post on Facebook that I was open to taking questions. I was up WAY past my bedtime and I was on fire for what we’re doing here so I decided to see who was still awake.
I got a few responses on the thread and I was able to share some knowledge about the experience.
And then… DING!
I had an instant message.
I’m not going to tell you who it was from because you don’t need to know. What you need to know is that he watched the video yesterday and it touched him. Here’s what he said:
So, Kim… God has placed it on my heart to pay for a one outfit session for one of your ladies. You choose the lady. I have only two requests. I remain anonymous and you challenge other men to do the same. How does that sound?? Let me know what you think.
My EXACT response was:
You are AMAZING!!! I LOVE you for this!!! Okay! And I already know who I want to bless!!
So the wheels are in motion for her session. I’ll never tell you who either of them are. This is completely and totally anonymous.
And to honor his second request… I challenge you…the guy who is sitting there watching this video…to reach out and help us make Christmas special for a woman out there who is struggling to feel worthy this holiday season. She is putting everyone else first and she needs to know that she is loved and that she is amazing…and that God and the universe are looking out for her.
All you have to do is message me and I’ll take care of the rest. You’ll never know who each other is. You don’t have to live nearby. You can do this from anywhere in the world. All it takes is for you to reach out to me.
In case you need the text for Proverbs 8:18… here you go. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. NIV
Y’all have a blessed day and a joyous holiday season. I’m gonna go enjoy a cup of coffee and get ready to do this Facebook Live thing again!!
Hey guys. This is Kim. This morning I did a Facebook Live video that has tugged at some heartstrings so I’m posting it here to share with people who aren’t on Facebook! Below the video are the notes that I was referring to while I was live. When you get ready to book a session…just follow this link!! >>>>>Book Now<<<<<
Let me just take a minute to tell you a secret that the woman in your life doesn’t want you to know.
Are you ready? Because this is BIG.
She loves you. She loves your family. She loves her life. But…
She’s struggling with loving herself.
How do I know this??
She told me.
Recently, we launched a new Pin Up Session at Life Times Visual Media and I went first.
I spent time researching hair and makeup styles from the 40s and the 50s. I played around with fake eyelashes and bobby pins. I did some test shots with my phone. I posted to Instagram and Facebook.
And then it happened….
I posted a picture of myself in a modest two piece bathing suit and my social media world exploded. I got THREE TIMES the normal number of likes from that one picture.
And let’s be honest…. I’m NOT a petite bathing beauty.
So the next step was to gather some outfits and put together a session for myself. I got a couple of dresses out of my closet…and the bathing suit from Instagram. And then I had to decide just how far I was willing to go to test out this Pin Up Session thing. I had to put on…underwear. For. The. Camera.
So I spent some time getting ready. I did my makeup and spent a LONG time curling my hair. I went to the back to start getting dressed while Steven set up the backdrop for our test shots.
And then I did the thing. I mean… I REALLY did the thing!!
I did four outfits to represent the four different styles we are offering in our sessions. I started with the lingerie because I was most nervous about that and I wanted to get it out of the way…then the bathing suit and the two dresses.
Then I had to go to the grocery store. Seriously. It was time to cook dinner and I needed bacon. So I threw my jeans on but I left the hair and makeup the same…and headed to the store. You should have seen me wandering around the Piggly Wiggly. I got a few stares…but I was totally cool with that because I was feeling kinda beautiful from my session!
I got home and made dinner while Steven worked on editing my images. He started with the lingerie. I kept trying to get peeks while I was cooking, but I waited patiently for the finished results.
Y’all… I always love it when clients cry when they see their completed images. I’m a sucker for tears. I was totally unprepared to have them myself.
I was blown away by how much I loved these images.
Again… I’m NOT petite. There are things about my body that I’m working on changing. But these images…
I love them. I believe in the power of photography.
So I did the other thing.
I posted all of them on Facebook for all the world to see.
I didn’t do it because I’m vain. I did it because I wanted all my beautiful sisters to know that it’s okay to love yourself…right where you are today.
I posted those images and then I held my breath.
The response was….
In the first hour I had over TWENTY FIVE women who contacted me about doing their own session. I had three who paid their deposits and sent me their measurements in the first day.
But the other twenty two women… YOUR wife? YOUR girlfriend? The mother of YOUR children?
She said she was going to wait.
She said that you come first.
She said that she was going to see what was left over after everyone else was taken care of.
She said that SHE… isn’t important.
Guys… She WANTS this. She DESERVES this.
And you…can make it happen for her.
Give her this gift that tells her she is beautiful. Tell her how much you appreciate all she does for you and for your family. Give her the pampering and the spotlight and the memories that will last a lifetime.
We’ll take care of everything. Hair, makeup, outfits…it’s all included. If you order before Christmas I’ll even throw in a mani pedi at my favorite salon.
Do it for HER.
So you’re ready to get your headshots done? Great! Let’s get you prepared so you’ll have a great time and we’ll capture some amazing images of you!
- Wear something that you feel comfortable in, that makes you look amazing. Solid colors work best…and we are fans of bold colors! If you are doing a full session, bring anything you’re considering so we can look at your options and help you decide. Coming to Headshot Saturday? Gather some friends and family around to help you pick out your best outfit! But remember…it comes down to the image YOU want to project…not what everyone thinks you should look like!
- Accessorize with care. Your face is the focal point of this image…not your necklace. Statement pieces are great for some occasions, but you want to make sure that your jewelry doesn’t distract from the point of the session.
- Hair is everything. Don’t (and I can’t stress this enough…) get a haircut the day before. Go and get a trim 4 or 5 days before if you must, but haircuts right before pictures are a no-no! Picture a white line separating your gorgeous tan and your hairline. See what we mean?
- Makeup matters. If you have shiny skin guys, consider an oil mattifier to take the sheen off that forehead and nose. Ladies, make sure that you are comfortable with your makeup look. If you’re not used to wearing makeup, let us know and we will put you in contact with one of our fabulous stylists who can help you achieve the look you want in a way that the camera will love!
- Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. The key to good looking skin is drinking water. If you think you’ve had enough…go ahead and drink some more. Do it for at LEAST 3 days before your shoot…or make it a new habit if you don’t already do it. Your skin will thank you for it!
- Trim your fingernails. Some headshots will be half length with your arms folded and your hands will show. Make sure your nails are clean and that there are no chips or broken nails, if you’re wearing polish.
That’s pretty simple, right? You take care of this stuff and we’ll do our best to make you look fabulous!
